Do you have tight muscles? Are you in constant pain? You don’t have to be.
Dr. Maryann Sheps is thrilled to announce that she’s now treating her patients using the latest non-invasive treatment for muscle tightness spasms and trigger points. Introducing enPuls.
enPuls is a medical device brought to you by Zimmer, a company that delivers the best medical device and technology in the world. Using radial shockway therapy (RSWT) patients receive high-energy acoustic pulses into their affected tissue. This action increases the metabolic activity around area that is in pain. In turn this triggers the reabsorption of calcium deposits, stimulating the body’s natural healing process and reducing pain.
Instructed by the President of Zimmer on its uses and application, Dr. Sheps is now the only member on staff trained to use enPuls.

Medical Effects
The causes of the observed medical effects are still largely hypothetical or not fully evaluated. Current scientific investigations are in progress to try and develop a better understanding of the causes and effects of the radial shockwave.
There are two probable primary effects:
Direct reaction to the mechanical stimulation
Indirect stimulation triggering cellular and biochemical processes based on triggering a reactive system.
Direct effects may include the following:
-Normalization of the muscle tone through stimulation of the muscle spindle and the Golgi apparatus of the muscle tendon
- Pain overlay based on the gate-control principle (Melzack and Wall) with parallel endorphin release by the stimulation of the skin’s pressure and touch receptors
Pending FDA approval

Dr. Maryann Sheps & Debbie Ferguson
Dr. Maryann Sheps recently had the unique opportunity to spend a week with the Bahamian Olympic Team at Florida’s
National Training Center (NTC) in Orlando. Dr. Sheps spent most of her week treating Olympic Gold Medalist sprinter,
Debbie Ferguson, a.k.a. “Fast Fergie.” Using the
Biolase Diolase 10 laser, Dr. Sheps administered daily laser treatments to Ferguson, who is training for this summer’s 2012 London Olympics. The world class athlete enthusiastically said, “I’ve never felt better!” And reports a 100% improvement in her aches, pains and tweaks after her laser treatments. Ferguson will continue to receive spot laser treatments as Dr. Sheps plans on traveling to Ferguson’s races at the
Prefontaine Classic in Oregon this June and later in the summer to London for the
Olympic Games.
But this week long trip isn’t the end of the story. Keep an eye out for future posts about Sheps and Ferguson. The pair are writing a book about the journey of underprivileged communities and the strong female athletes who emerge and thrive despite their adversities.

It’s raining GOLD, SILVER, and BRONZE for US Athletes, topping the charts with 25 medals (12 gold, 8 silver, 5 bronze) at the 13th IAAF 2011 World Championships in Daegu, South Korea.
A very special congratulations goes out to our All Back & Joint Care US Athletes, Carmelita Jeter, Bianca Knight, Jason Richardson, Lashinda Demus, and Jesse Williams. Additionally we salute our international athletes, Felix Sanchez (Dominican Republic) , and Jaysuma Saidy Ndure (Norway).
Jeter came home with one silver and two gold medals, sharing a gold with Knight for their valiant team effort in the women’s 4 × 100 meter relay. This win set a season world record at a speed of 41.56. Click here to listen to Carmelita Jeter’s Adidas interview after the race.
Gold medals were also awarded to Richardson (110 meters hurdles/ 13.16), Williams (High jump/ 2.35) and Demus, who set both a season world record and a national record for the 400 meter hurdles at 52.47.
Sanchez was 7/100ths of a second away from the bronze, landing him a very close 4th place in the men’s 400m hurdles (48.87).
Jaysuma Saidy Ndure also came close to the bronze, placing 4th in the Men’s 200 meters (19.95)
Each of these athletes have received laser therapy treatments and chiropractic services from Drs. Maryann and Michael Sheps. Jeter describes the exceptional results she received with BIOLASE®’s Diolase™10 laser treatments. “In 2010 I suffered from a cyst in my ankle and didn’t know if I would be able to compete the rest of the season. I came to Dr. Sheps 4x’s a week and was back running in 4 weeks. I finished the 2010 season as the #1 sprinter in the world.”
Drs. Maryann and Michael Sheps are thrilled to announce that they will be accompanying these athletes (laser in hand, of course) at the Olympic trials (June 2012, Oregon)
